8 March 2019: National Selection interviews were held today for entry into our National Cardiothoracic Surgery Training Programme. Six candidates were selected for entry into Year 1 of the six-year National Training Programme.

The National Cardiothoracic Surgery Training Programme now has 21 National Training Fellows with the first batch expected to complete their training in June 2022. It is run by the Malaysian Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery for the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the Academy of Medicine Malaysia, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. The training programme is benchmarked to international standards quality assured by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

 

15 September 2018: The training of Cardiothoracic Surgeons in Malaysia took a giant leap forward with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, U.K., and the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong, and the Joint Committee of Specialist Training of Singapore, establishing a Quadripartite Exit Examination in Cardiothoracic Surgery involving the four parties. click here

 

28 February 2018: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 28 Feb 2018, between the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM), the Malaysian Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (MATCVS), and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCS Edin). click here

5 April 2012: The following members have been appointed to the new cardiothoracic subspecialty accreditation committee of the National Specialist Register: Professor Dato’ Dr Zainuddin Wazir (Chairman), Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Yahya Awang, Dato’ Professor Dr Azahari Yakub, Professor Dr Mohd Zamrin Dimon, Dato’ Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Dr Jong Yuan Hsun.
