MoU with RCS Edin and AMM

28 Feb 2918: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 28 Feb 2018, between the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM), the Malaysian Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (MATCVS), and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCS Edin).

The MoU formalises the role of the RCS Edin in the training of Cardiothoracic Surgeons in Malaysia. The RCS Edin will accredit suitable centres in Malaysia to deliver training in cardiothoracic surgery, recommend the number of training positions within each training centre, and quality assure the Fellowship Training Programme of the Malaysian Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery (MBCTS).

The signatories of the MoU were Prof Rosmawati Mohamed (Master of the AMM), Professor Raja Amin (President of the MATCVS), and Mr Timothy Graham (RCS Edin Chair of Professional Standards). It was witnessed by Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (Director-General of Health of Malaysia) and Tan Sri Yahya Awang (Chairman of the MBCTS).

Also present at the signing ceremony were Mr Pala Rajesh (Convenor of the RCS Edin Cardiothoracic Examinations), Prof Dr John Chan Kok Meng (Hon Secretary of the MATCVS and the MBCTS), Dato' Dr Hamzah Kamarulzaman (MBCTS Programme Director), and Dr Sivakumar Sivalingam (MATCVS and MBCTS Treasurer).
